The third shot drop is the gateway to winning more points. It helps you move from the baseline to the kitchen and neutralizes aggressive opponents.
1. Start With a Soft Grip
Use a relaxed grip so the ball naturally lifts off your paddle. A tight grip sends the ball too high.
2. Use a Low‑to‑High Motion
Think of it like tossing an underhand ball. Lift, don’t swing. Your goal is a soft arc that lands in the kitchen.
3. Contact the Ball in Front
Reaching forward gives you better control and consistency.
4. Aim Cross‑Court
Cross‑court drops travel over the lowest part of the net and give you more room for error.
5. Move Forward After the Shot
Don’t admire your drop — follow it in. The whole point is to get to the kitchen line.
